Brinnon is within miles of the Brothers Wilderness, Buckhorn Wilderness, Olympic National Forest and Olympic National Park. There are numerous campgrounds for overnight stays and many opportunities for short, medium and long hikes. See BrinnonInfo hiking page for info on hikes.

Collins Campground: 16 camp sites; 10 will accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs up to 21 feet in length. Well water, tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Quiet campground along the shore of the Duckabush River. Duckabush trailhead is one mile west of the campground; Interrorem Historic Cabin, Ranger Hole Trailhead, and Interrorem Interpretative Nature Trail are one mile east of the campground. $10 camping fee covers two license passenger vehicles and a maximum of eight people. Dosewallips State Park: Dosewallips State Park is a 425-acre, year-round camping park with saltwater shoreline on Hood Canal and freshwater shoreline on either side of the Dosewallips River. The park offers both freshwater and saltwater activities. All camp areas are grassy and located in scenic, rustic settings.

Breathtaking views of Hood Canal and Olympic mountains, hiking and biking on a five mile stretch of beach, boating, fishing, swimming, horseshoe pit, diving, clamming, crabbing, oysters, bird watching, mushrooming.

Dosewallips Ranger Station, Campgrounds & Trails UPDATE: The Dosewallips Road is washed out 9.2 miles from Highway 101 turnout. There is a magnificient "trail" of 0.72 miles that goes around the washout to re-connect with the road. It is a moderate hike through pristine old-growth forest rich in habitat and wildlife. The Forest Services is studying building a bridge to re-connect the Dosewallips Road. This would have a significant adverse effect on critical salmon habitat. So, for now, the hearty can hike into the Ranger Station, and beyond from the washout at 9.2 miles up the Dose Road. Campsites available at Dose Forks, Deception Creek, Camp Marion, Bear Camp, Dose Meadow. Wilderness permit necessary. Call Olympic National Park Wilderness Info at 360-565-3100.

Elkhorn Campground (Not available by car, due to washout): 10 miles on FS Road 2610; first 6 miles paved, last 4 in fair to good condition (potholes). 20 camping units, with some on the Dosewallips River. Water, vault toilets, tables, firepits available. No hookups. Old growth wooded area on the north bank of the river with camping, fishing, nearby hiking in Olympic National park. $10.00 camping fee covers two licensed passenger vehicles and a maximum of eight people. Rainbow Campground: Group campground only, with 9 secluded camping sites, each with a table and fire ring. Sites are not large, and limited to tents and smaller recreational vehicles. $50 per night, 14 day stay. The group will have exclusive use of the campground. Point Whitney Shellfish Lab: 1000 Point Whitney Road, Brinnon. (Highway 101 and Bee Mill Road). Interpretive Center, beach access, public tidelands, magnificent view. Center open 4/1 to 9/4, 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m. Area fishing updates: 360-249-4628.

Seal Rock Campground: One of the few National Forest Campgrounds located on salt water, with harvestable oysters for public use. 41 RV/tent units are spaced among the trees, with several along the waterfront; 3 paved handicapped units and facilities accommodate wheelchairs. Tables and firepits at each site. Overnight fees: $12 per site; 14 day stay. Recreation opportunities: oystering (in season), scuba diving, clamming, crabbing, shrimping. The Native American Trail and Marine Biology Trail are universally accessible. Within easy driving distance of major trailheads. Many smaller hikes, such as Mt. Walker Trail, Rainbow Canyon Trail and the two in Fallsview Campground are easy walks through old-growth trees and spring blooming rhododendrons. Season May through September.
